The 2018 AAPPM Summer Conference keeps ticking closer. Before you know it, June 21-23 will be upon us in Columbus!
We have a huge agenda lined up over three days. It can be a lot to take in and wrap your time around, but we wanted to point out a few highlights we feel are well worth your consideration.
First up is the event to start it all: our Keynote Address [Thursday, 8 a.m.-9 a.m.]!
This year’s honored guest is Nicholas Morgan, an Army veteran who served as an intelligence analyst and paratrooper. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart following his actions after a roadside bomb injured him and two of his soldiers in Baghdad.
After Morgan transition from the military to working with the construction industry, he saw the difficulties veterans had finding long-term employment and construction employers had finding skilled labor.
Morgan founded Adaptive Construction Solutions to serve as an advocate between employers and veterans, and his keynote speech will focus on the ways instilling self-confidence and opportunity in employees can foster engagement and loyalty.
The Medical Assistant Sessions on Friday provide great advice on a variety of topics, but the opening lectures might help you look at patients differently!
The Importance of Office Staff Understanding How Patients Walk! [Friday, 10 a.m.-11 a.m.] will show the front and back offices how to recognize potential gait abnormalities and other biomechanical problems based on the way a patient walks. Combine this with Orthotics: From Casting to Adjusting [Friday, 11 a.m.-noon] to further the discussion on treating biomechanical problems.
We have mentioned this previously, but we are excited about our half-day AAPPM Health Law Symposium [Saturday, 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.]. Organized upon popular request, our team of healthcare attorneys will help you make heads and tails of health law.
Topics will include what you need to know about mergers, acquisitions, employment contracts, third-party payer audits, and more. Stay up to date with legal rigmarole and control your business with more confidence.
And let’s not forget: Friday evening, when your head is swimming with a day of facts, take some time to breathe and get to know your fellow conference attendees at our Wine Tasting and Networking Fundraiser [Friday, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.]. Sample wines and unwind, with donations accepted toward the educational efforts we provide student clubs at podiatry schools.
There’s plenty more to see at the Summer Conference this year. If you still haven’t registered yet, do so soon to lock in early bird pricing!
