Our Fellowship Program Invites Experienced Podiatrists to Receive Recognition as Practice Management Experts

As a seasoned podiatrist with at least four years of post-residency experience, you've mastered the art of treating patients. Unfortunately, in today’s competitive health care landscape, clinical skills alone aren’t enough to ensure a thriving practice. That’s where the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management (AAPPM) comes in—offering vital resources, tools, and educational opportunities to help practitioners boost their business acumen.

But that’s not all; in addition to our resources, annual in-person conference, and various webinars, we also have a fellowship program that allows qualifying members to distinguish themselves as practice management experts and industry leaders. Fellowships Offer Numerous Benefits for Dedicated Podiatrists 

The fellowship program is rigorous, requiring a significant investment of time and effort—but for those who are up for the challenge, the benefits are substantial. They include:

  • An AAPPM Fellowship Certificate and lapel pin, presented at an upcoming AAPPM conference
  • Featuring your practice management fellowship paper(s) and/or Pearl articles in our members-only Resource Center—we might also submit one of your papers to Podiatry Management magazine for publication in an upcoming issue
  • Invitations to participate in special roundtable discussions and serve on committees that benefit you, your practice, the profession, and AAPPM
  • Discounted registration for AAPPM conferences, social events, virtual seminars, and webinars

Exploring Fellowship Requirements and Prerequisites 

An AAPPM fellowship is more than just a title—it's a testament to your commitment to excellence in practice management. We created this program for AAPPM members with a demonstrated dedication to ongoing education and a desire to lead the field. Our fellows are the cream of the crop, true industry leaders who possess a unique blend of clinical expertise and business knowledge that sets them apart from their peers. As an American Academy of Podiatric Management Fellow, you’ll be part of an elite group of professionals who are shaping the future of podiatric practices nationwide.

To apply for fellowship status, you must:

  • Be an AAPPM member in good standing
  • Have a minimum of four years of post-residency podiatric practice experience 
  • Have attended two or more AAPPM conferences
  • Submit a 1,800 to 2,500-word paper on practice management AND present a live, 20-minute or longer PowerPoint presentation at an upcoming seminar, OR
    • Submit two 1,800 to 2,500-word papers, OR
    • Submit one 1,800 to 2,500-word paper AND two 1,000 to 1,500-word Pearl articles

Papers, Pearl articles, and PowerPoint presentations must be related to practice management and applicability to daily practice, with topics approved in advance by the AAPPM Fellowship team.

Maintaining Your Fellowship Status

Once approved, your initial fellowship with the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management lasts for two years. Fortunately, fellows can opt to extend their fellowship with the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management.

To maintain your AAPPM Fellowship status, you must:

  • Remain an AAPPM member in good standing
  • Attend at least one in-person AAPPM conference during your fellowship
  • Write a 1,800 to 2,500-word paper OR two 1,000 to 1,500-word Pearl articles OR present a live PowerPoint presentation at an upcoming seminar
